In November 2021, I gave a talk at my mastermind retreat on the categories of visuals business owners need to have to tell the story of their brand, and right afterwards Chess & Nickie of The Funnel Sisters walked over and told me “we need that.” They’d mentioned something had been missing from their website, and realized this was it- a library of on-brand visuals that show more than just pretty portraits of business owners smiling at their laptops. They needed visuals to help bridge the gap between their intentions for the brand and their audience’s perception.

These two are copywriters and strategists, and they are DANG good at what they do. Their clients’ results speak for themselves, and my prep calls with these two got me fired up- listening to Nickie’s passion and confidence made me sit back and wonder why I don’t talk about myself with as much zeal. They’re not afraid to own their successes, to assert the value they bring to the table for their clients. A line you’ll find on their website: “You have the K, Q, J and 10- we’re your Ace.”

YESSSS.

Chess & Nickie are from Oklahoma & Arizona, respectively, and they both flew out to DC for their shoot so we could take advantage of some of the locations the DMV had to offer. Despite the rain that would. not. quit that day, we managed to capture a huge variety of content throughout their full-day shoot! We started with a few outdoor portraits, moved to a studio, and finished the day at a residential location, and these two crushed it from start to finish.

**For my photographer friends reading this- pay attention to the lighting throughout this shoot! We had ample natural light outside + in the studio, but when we got to the residential location, it was DARK inside. I ended up blending ambient light with a bit of studio lighting to avoid uneven shadows across the face, and I’m SO happy with how it turned out!
