Second shooting, how I love thee. This past weekend I had the opportunity to assist Mike Lesnick Photography for a wedding in Bethesda, MD, and the results are some of my favorite wedding day images I’ve ever taken. We had ample time to spend with Dan and Jessie for portraits, and they’re so in love that it was impossible to stop photographing them. You know those couple that are still holding hands and kissing when they’re stooped with age and lined with wrinkles? There’s no doubt in my mind that Dan and Jessie will be exactly like that in 50 years.

The day began at the Paabo hair salon. I arrived at 7 am, and the plaza was eerily quiet. The salon was peaceful too, and Jessie sat in the hairdresser’s chair, smiling and listening the silence.

Her veil is a family heirloom from the 1920’s. The level of detail was incredible- they don’t make them like this anymore.

Jessie was the epitome of tranquil. No stress, no panic, no tears- just calm. And beautiful.

Seriously, girl- you are stunning.

Adorable flower girl, gorgeous window lighting, and humble father of the bride. I adore this family! Maryland Wedding PhotographerMaryland Wedding Photographer

Their first kiss = best one I’ve ever seen. Dan was SO excited to lock lips with his new wife, and he didn’t care who was watching. p.s. that image on the right? Totally inspired by THE Katelyn James.

Not to group all couples into teh same category, but the bride is usually more of a focus in wedding portraits. Part of that may be due to the fact that I’ve found brides more willing to be photographed, but I have to tell you- Dan was giving Jessie a run for her money.

I think the flower girl and ring bearer were getting jealous of all the attention- they wanted to model too. And they were way good at it.

See? Run for her money!

Jessie wrote a poem for her dad and read it to him at the reception. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room- it was beautiful!

My friends, this is what absolute contentment looks like.

The image on the left was a result of me telling Dan to look like he was “trying to holler.” And the image on the right was a beautiful accident.

Mike, thank you so much for inviting me along. Dan and Jessie, your relationship is incredible. Looking back on your images makes me fall a little bit more in love with my husband, because you two love one another so completely and selflessly. I know you’re enjoying Venezuela!

Happy Wedding Wednesday!
