It’s here! It’s HERE! Wendy Conklin’s gorgeous new book, Life Whimsy, is out in the world and I can finally show y’all what she’s been working on for the last year(+)!

Wendy and I have been working together on her brand visuals since 2021, and the first time she mentioned wanting to write her own book, I KNEW it was going to be a dose of joy in paper form. The book is focused on how to think, play, and work more creatively, and is the *perfect* representation of the brand she’s built over the years. I find myself newly inspired everything time I look through its pages (and I’ve looked through it QUITE a few times now)!

The book incorporates photographs from all three of Wendy’s shoot- her initial full-day session in September 2021, the half-day session to document her collaboration with Frances Valentine, and then a book-specific full-day shoot in September 2022 where we worked with laser precision to fill the remaining gaps for the book. And the result is GORGEOUS! It’s such a joy to see how many of our photos she was able to use!

I love the variety of photographs she has to pull from- flat lays, process imagery, photos of her tools, portraits, storytelling visuals, SO MANY CHOICES!

This is one of my favorites, from the very end of her third shoot last Fall! I’ll blog those images next week and give the story behind this frame- I’m SO HAPPY it got its own moment as a full-page photograph!

The Launch Party!

Because why launch a book by yourself when you COULD invite 200+ friends to join in the fun?

Wendy made this launch an immersive experience, and I’m so grateful I could be there to capture it all! Her audience members came to her home in Round Rock, Texas from near (like, across the street) and far (someone flew in from Spain!) to celebrate the new book, tour Wendy’s colorful home, and meet the woman of the hour herself!

In true Wendy style, it was so dang cute. Frosé and frozen margaritas to go around, charcuterie cups, a cupcake truck (why isn’t this a thing in DC??), and more. Enjoy a few highlights from *the best* party I’ve been to all year!

Oh… and as you’re scrolling, don’t miss the custom dress Wendy commissioned for the party from my girl Katherine Bignon! It was a mood all on its own, and so perfectly Wendy. I can’t imagine a more perfect frock for the occasion!
