Working with repeat clients is my favorite. Firstly, because I already know their brand and how they like to be photographed, which means it takes way less time to get “warmed up” both in my pre-shoot research AND on set.
But also because I love the CHALLENGE when a client comes back and says “I love what we did last time, I just need to keep my visuals fresh- can we do more of what we did last time?”
It’s an experiment in changing things up, identifying *exactly* what we liked about the previous round of images, and expanding on it, instead of just lather-rinse-repeating. And it’s also an opportunity to me to learn if there’s anything my clients *didn’t* love about their previous images, so we can skip planning for photos that won’t be used.
Adrienne and I shot together two years ago, and I already knew she could bring it in front of the camera. She’s an absolute force, and I knew she’d give it to me straight when we started planning for Round 2. Adrienne’s a Facebook Ads expert and agency owner, so she’s super dialed in on what visuals work well for her audience. And so in addition to shooting with her new podcast in mind, The Resilience Factor, she also expressed a need for a high variety of portraits.
She’s one of my clients who uses her photos on a very regular basis, which means we needed to focus on changing up outfits + composition in order to create a ton of diversity throughout her shoot, allowing her photos to stretch her as loooong as possible.
Adrienne, thank you so much for asking me back for Round 2! It’s a joy to have you in front of my camera, and your radiance and energy shines through SO clearly in your final collection of photographs!
Photography/lighting notes: This was a shoot where I ended up supplementing with OCF for almost the entire day- Adrienne’s home is beautiful, but we were working with SUPER cloudy skies that day which cut down substantially on the amount of window light we could count on. My Profoto B2 was my bestie that day, and high fives to my assistant Dennah for moving those all over the house as we scurried from room to room! Combining OCF + natural light in the same frame is one of my favorite ways to use flash- you can learn more about my method here!
