One of the best aspects of knowing a couple for years is that you have the privilege of watching their love take on different form as their relationship grows and matures. I’ve known Kaitlyn since she was 7 or 8, when we both danced at the same ballet studio. Then at the start of my junior year at Radford, Kaitlyn began as a freshman. David was a new transfer and we sat across from one another in French class, and it was that semester that their relationship began (at our annual fall retreat with Cru, no less).

So I, along with many others, had the opportunity to watch as their love story began. I got to chat about cameras with her a little bit during senior year, and watch from afar as her interest in photography began to grow, and to see how David supported and encouraged her in that. Then their engagement, graduations, their wedding, and Kaitlyn’s growing reputation as a heartfelt, introspective wedding photographer. She’s been alongside me for every iteration of A Practical Wedding Workshop, and at the end of the August workshop, she let me know that the November date would most likely be the last one she could help with, since their family of two was about to become three! And as much as I hate to lose her as the world’s best workshop assistant, I can’t imagine a better reason for doing so.

David & Kaitlyn, it was been such a joy to see you two grow in love, both with each other and with the Lord. You two are going to be incredible parents, and I can’t wait to meet little Ollie, who I’m sure will have no choice but to grow into a hipster, Harry Potter-loving man of God. So much love to you both!
