Seeing as my entire love for photography began while shooting film, it only seems right that these past couple of weeks spent experimenting with different film types and settings have left me elated! My entire journey began in a dark room, developing my own black and white film,  making my own prints, so this new odyssey into color is blowing my mind. Digital is great, but when you compare them side by side, you have two totally different feels.

I kept hoarding my film for official portrait sessions, wanting to make the most of it, when I remembered the first thing I did upon switching to Canon was to carry my mkii with me EVERYWHERE and to shoot EVERYTHING. It helped me learn to shoot in any situation, not just posed portrait sessions. So I’ve started to apply the same logic to my film camera- take it everywhere, take photos of seemingly insignificant things, but find ways to photograph them that turn them into something more substantial. That tree right below? Just a tree. I’ve walked by it a hundred times. But for some reason I LOVE that photo! Film is changing the way I see beauty and I’m so excited to shoot more.
