Oh hey! We haven’t done one of these in a while, so I figured it’s time for a QFTA post. Ready? Go!

1) What the heck is an e-session?
An “e-session” is an engagement session. It’s easier to type out e-session 12 times in one email than tapping out e-n-g-a-g-e-m-e-n-t s-e-s-s-i-o-n over and over. I think I’ve really confused people who aren’t familiar with my blog though- I’ve had people ask if it’s an electronic Skype meeting before :).

2) Do you shoot with a second photographer?
Absolutely. Every wedding I book includes a second photographer, and you can read extensively about my opinions on second shooting here, here, and here. And in case you don’t feel like reading, the short story is that a second shooting is my insurance policy in case anything happens to me on the day of your wedding. It’s just a little bit extra assurance that we’ll have everything covered!

3) What’s your favorite film stock?
Fuji 400H! I’m still learning how to manipulate it to attain the look I want, but I much prefer Fuji over Kodak Portra’s yellow tones. Fuji can be a little blue in the shadows, but overall I like the feel of the 400H much more. And overall, film just pWns. I’ve been taking my 35mm film camera along with me to e-sessions (see what I did there?) to shoot a few frames each time, so getting my film back is like a hodge podge of my recent shooting activity.

4) What’s with the key in your logo?
I wish I had some sort of hard-hitting, deep response for this question, because I get it a lot. I wish I could say “Well, I chose it because I believe that photography is the key to happy memories” or bla bla bla, but truth is? I just really like antique keys. I know, totally lame. But they’ve always been a fascination of mine- anytime I’d find a cool old cupboard in a friend’s house with a key in the lock, I secretly wanted to take the key home with me. I think it may stem from all those times my mom dragged us to Williamsburg– that place is full of cool locks, doorknobs and keys!

And here’s one more sneak preview of David and Heather’s e-session before the whole thing hits the blog next week!

Happy Friday! And as always, if y’all have questions for future QFTA posts, just leave them in the comment section!
