Their love story is one that began in the halls of their middle school in Hershey, PA- she remembers passing him by, noticing those dark brown eyes. Both harboring a secret crush on the other, they didn’t start dating until their junior year of high school.”We both liked each other but didn’t have the guts to do anything about it,” Mekdesse recounts. When it came time to leave for college, they knew they were facing a difficult task with Corey at Mt. Olive and Mekdesse at VCU, but they pushed their way through four years. Mekdesse attributes the success of their relationship to Corey’s frequent road trips to see her nearly every weekend, and sure enough, a few years later they were tying the knot at the place where it all began- Hershey, Pennsylvania.
But when she received her wedding photos back, her stomach dropped- they weren’t at all was she was expecting. She doesn’t even like pulling out her photos to show family, and she decided it was about time they have photos taken that they’re proud to display in their home. I LOVE redemption sessions, so I was thrilled when she contacted me about a session. And then when she said the words “Middleburg” and “sunrise?” I was hooked.
Corey & Mekdesse, I am so sorry that your wedding photographer disappointed you, but I hope that these photos help to heal that wound a little bit! I thoroughly enjoyed exploring an unknown-to-me part of Middleburg with you both, and I hope you know that I utterly adore you both :). You were such a joy to me at such an early hour in the morning, and I can’t tell you what an honor it was to be able to photograph you two!
We began at sunrise in Middleburg…
This light right here reminds me of that scene in Pride & Prejudice (2005) where Darcy comes walking up in all his glory! Remember??
Mekdesse!! YOU ARE SUCH A STUNNER!
I think this was the point that I said “Hey Corey- has anyone ever told you you look like Kanye?” “…no.” “…oh. Well, you do.”
I love you two.
