You know that feeling when you get an urge to go out and do something… amazing? Inspiring? Creative? I NEEDED that feeling. So I put it out on the interwebs that I was looking for a couple who’d be willing to get back into their wedding attire and traipse around with me for an hour or two to satisfy my need for creativity. I’d seen Alicia’s name before on comments left on my blog, so I was really excited when she and her husband Rob ended up being the couple I chose. As the session drew nearer, it occurred to me that this was the PERFECT opportunity to shoot almost exclusively on my Contax, so I loaded up my bag with several rolls of film and headed out at 4:15 a.m. to meet Rob & Alicia for their sunrise shoot.
It was PERFECT. The location was one I’d discovered while hanging out with Laura during our bridal shoot a few weeks earlier (go check it out- Laura is CRAZY inspiring), so I knew it had potential. The morning didn’t disappoint and the sky was full of that golden, morning glow I love so much! My hands were literally shaking as I loaded my Contax because I was so nervous I was going to mess up my exposures and ruin this absolutely perfect morning with such a lovely couple. But thanks to a) my FIND book, 2) extensive research on exposing Fuji and III) my new light meter (oh, and the grace of God), almost every one of my exposures was accurate! I’m still learning to find my groove when it comes to determining just how much I want to overexpose my film, but with every shoot I get closer to finding that sweet spot.
Enjoy what is most definitely my favorite bridal shoot of all times :).
GLORY LIGHTING!
Rob & Alicia, thank you SO MUCH for being the perfect muse for me. You have no idea how much you all inspired me that morning and EVERY TIME I look at these images. Thank you thank you thank you!!
Happy Wednesday!

Abby, you have NO IDEA how much these mean to us! They are seriously beyond beautiful — I wish I could think of a word to express what I mean! I will most definitely be getting a canvas of one of these as soon as I can pick a favorite 🙂
i’m blown away. these are unbelievable. just stunning.
These are absolutely beautiful! Wow! And thanks so much for your lovely comment.
Gorgeus. So peaceful!
This is beyond beautiful!!!! I’m so inspired to start working with more color film and buy that book! And I’ve been wondering what kind of light meter do you use?
I agree with the comments on the willow trees. If I had to pick one pose that I liked best, I think I’d have to say it is the one where they are sitting on the ground, she’s possibly in his lap, and they are looking into each other’s eyes or about to kiss. Those were so romantic.
love it!!
Amazing light! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous :)I am a bit more convincted now to wake up early to catch this gorgeous light!
[…] darlings! If you’ve been following along on the blog for a while, you may recognize them from this session four years ago :). And they’re even more beautiful together than they were then, if […]
