Goooood morning interwebs! I hope your weekend was less hectic than mine was- anytime a weekend involves a Saturday trip to Ikea, you know you’re in for a ride. It starts at the entrance, with dozens of bright-eyed and bushy-tailed shoppers pouring through the doors. Things are great as you peruse sofas and love seats, and you’ll still find your excitement lingers as you wend your way past dining room tables and dozens of kitchen set-ups. But once you walk past the food court (“I guess that smells mildly appetizing) and head downstairs, reality sets in: you’re not even halfway done and you’re already tired. Exhaustion turns to claustrophobic desperation to find the exit as you follow the labyrinthian aisle of frames, vases, kitchen utensils and wall hangings, and by the time you hit the warehouse-like vault where you can pick up the furniture you actually came for, you’ve reached a level 10 “Hangries” status. You know, you’re so hungry and tired that it turns to anger? And at that point, there’s only one thing left to do: check out and nurse your aching feet back in the car, assuaging your exhaustion with a $1 ice cream cone.
This, my friends, is Ikea.
As always, lessons learned/things that transpired over the weekend!
- I bought my first pair of yoga pants last week- how have I lived until now?? One of my rules for working from home is that I HAVE to change out of my pj’s every morning- it helps my body realize it’s time to go to work. But sometimes I don’t feel like getting dressed up, and this is where yoga pants fill the void. Oh yoga pants, I think I love you.
- Instagram is my FAVORITE app on my iPhone (follow me! @abbygracephoto), but I’ve recently noticed how amusing it must be to watch me snap a photo. First, I search for the best light in which to take my photo. Second, I make sure whatever 2’x2′ area is in the background is clean. Not the entire room, just the part of the floor/wall/table that’ll show up in my photo. Third, I then spend 5-10 minutes taking photos, realizing the focus is just slightly off, or the speck of dust in the background is more apparent than I thought, “clicking” away until I get the PERFECT square-formatted photo. And then sometimes, even after all of that, I can’t decide which Instagram filter I want to apply, if any of them, and I scrap the whole thing. I guess that’s just a hazard of being a perfectionist photographer?
- Sometimes I get into fights with Siri. “Siri- call home.” “With whom would you like to speak?” “What? No- CALL HOME.” “With whom would you like to speak?” Or this morning- “Siri- call Rebekah Hoyt.” “Calling Natalie Franke.” “No! REBEKAAAAH HOOOYT.” Or then there are those times where she says something like “Sorry, Siri isn’t available right now. Trying again later,” and I’m left wondering what on earth she could be doing that’s left her unable to answer my demands.
This beautiful wedding is coming to the blog this week and I cannot WAIT to share it with you guys!

Happy Monday!

Siri clearly wanted you to call me this morning! 🙂 My phone is always open, girlfriend! Hehehe! Happens to me all the time!
Yoga pants are definitely the best clothes ever!!! So comfortable. And yet you they don’t feel as “dingy” as sweatpants so you feel a little more “dressed up” if that makes sense (less like you’re wearing pajamas).
I really need to find an Ikea Store. We don’t have them in this part of the country! Love the picture. Can’t wait to see the bouquet . I love sunflowers!
Gorgeous as usual!
Hahaha I loved seeing my name spelled out in whale language 🙂
