I clearly need to start checking the weather forecast more often. The only time I check it anymore is before an engagement session or wedding, so if I don’t have either within the next few days, I’m clueless as to what the atmosphere will be treating us to. Last Monday I woke up to find a light dusting of snow on the ground, somewhat infuriated because Spring was due to arrive two days later. Then last Thursday I had my coaching session with Katelyn and wore a cute little blue sundress for head shots, not taking into account that it was going to be 45 degrees and blusteringly cold outside. THEN yesterday on my drive home from a weekend in Charlotte with my cousin Meg, it started snowing once I crossed into Virginia. And we’re not talking flurries, friends- we’re talking big fat flakes that obscure your vision piling up in the road and making driving difficult, striking fear into the hearts of drivers.

Oh, and then my car was covered with snow when I got up this morning. YOU WIN, Mother Nature.

Anyways! It’s a beautiful view of out of my window right now with the snowfall, so I’ll just enjoy it for what it is and try not to think about how warm it probably was at this point last year :).

As always, lessons learned/things that transpired over the past week:

  • Learn to check the weather forecast even if you don’t believe there’s the slightest chance of wintry precipitation.
  • I was in the mood to try a new black tea to mix it up from my typical English Breakfast routine in the morning, so I bought “Irish Breakfast” tea. It tastes exactly like the English version, and then I remembered that Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and citizens of Northern Ireland are technically British citizens. Well played, Twinings. Well played.
  • You know the Beach Boys’ song “Barbara Ann?” I grew up singing “Bop-bop-bop, bop-Bopper Ann.” I thought the song was called “Bopper Ann.” I’m not alone in that, right?
  • Sometimes I wish Lily was more in touch with her German Shepherd half, size-wise (she barely tips the scale at a whopping 30 pounds), but after spending the weekend with Meg’s two sweet, adorable lab-mix puppies, I realized that 30 pounds is a blessing: it doesn’t hurt as much when she steps across my chest in the mornings as she scrambles onto our bed.

Asking strangers to take a photo always makes me nervous! Especially in a pub.
