Oooh this was a FUN one! I knew from our first shoot together that Michele has an eye for detail (she laid out all her props in color-coded order in her garage- dream client), and she prepped me ahead of this second shoot that there’s be plenty more for me to play with this go-round.
It’s been such a trip to watch Michele put her photographs from the first shoot to work in such creative ways, and in addition to curating props in the in-between, she’d also been doing some serious refining on the business side to drill down her offers and clarify her USP. She has a fun project in the works, The Wonder Habit, and I can’t wait to see it makes its debut.
For her 1.5 day shoot, we focused on a few specific areas: depicting her role as a fine artist and author, styled flat lays with plenty of cropping options and negative space, and portraits of Michele painting outdoors where she find so much of her inspiration. It was going to be hard to out-do the first shoot but… I think we managed! Roughly 80% of the session was photographed at Michele’s home- we jumped in the car for the final bit to head over to her favorite spots in town.
Michele, you’re a bundle of inspiration and joy and encouragement, and it’s such a privilege to know you and be your photographer! I’m grateful you’ve trusted me, twice now, to capture your incredible vision, and it’s a photographer’s dream to see you love and use your photos so thoroughly. Big hugs to you, friend!
This was one of those shoots that worked all of my lighting muscles- natural light, reflector, scrim, a softbox (or two), the works. The sun popped its head out at times, but then we were hit with one of those all-of-a-sudden storms you get in Florida, and it got *DARK* after lunch. If it weren’t for my off-camera light + softbox, we would have been in deep trouble. Just a reminder to always, always come prepared, even if the forecast looks rosy!
(Hi, I’m obsessed with this. THIS is why I love having margin on shoot days, to create vignettes like this that’ll give you flexibility with cropping & usage later on!)
I saved my favorite for last- Michele, you’re beautiful.
