I keep asking Lily to stop growing but alas, puppies never listen, do they? The bigger she gets, the more trouble she seems to find- Matt discovered the other day that she can now jump up and over the baby gate he keeps at him door at work. He left his office for two minutes, comes back and she’s gone; she somehow found her way outside into the [fenced in] playground where all the preschoolers were having recess. Oh well, it probably made them happy!

So if anyone has a recipe/method for keeping puppies small, I’d love to hear them.

She likes licking windows.

I believe that image on the right is what we call “the stink-eye”

She stole one of my favorite flats and I didn’t realize it until I went to put the shoe on a realized the entire toe portion was scuffed up from her teeth, so I just gave up and let her have the pair.

  3. Janelle says:

  4. Rebekah Hoyt says:

She is SOO cute! Also, I am absolutely LOVING your Capitol Romance pictures – GORGEOUS!!!

  5. Rachel says:

    Need a babysitter?

  6. Megan R says:

hahah that “stink eye” picture is great! I think all puppies are window lickers and unfortunately they never stay small 🙁 but look in the bright side… one day (soon) she will be completely trained and even more lovable!

  7. Terra Dawn says:

Hmmm…maybe she’s like a fish! If you put a very small sweater on her, she will stop growing! (I am a genius…I know…)

Of course…you can’t put a sweater on a fish. But if you put a fish in a very small fish bowl, it totally works the same way!!

(If you decide to try this tactic…please take pictures…).

  8. Jean Hensley says:

She’s so cute. Great pics, Abby.

  9. Nikki says:

She is still soo cute! How much does she weigh now? I can’t offer you any help getting over babygates. . my 4lb Yorkie is the master of escape- he can get over, through, out of any babygate/ keep-him-in-his-room gate combination we can come up with.

  10. Karen Field says:

    I loved the stink eye!

  11. Anna says:

She is quite the camera ham! Love the stink eye pic, so hard to capture the looks Luna gives me as she goes to her default “I am not impressed” look when camera comes out. Your girl is tooo stinkin cute.

IMO I would not have given her that pair of shoes… to her that could mostly likely end up meaning all shoes are okay. Much better off just finding more chew toys for her little puppy teeth. You can never go wrong by having tons of appropriate chew options around. Shoes would not really be a good one as you don’t plan for her to get to chew all shoes. Just a thought, you are still free to do as you wish.

Check out Bestbullysticks.com and whitedogbone.com for some great prices on dog chews of all sorts. Bully sticks are great at her age as they will actually last and make little mess. Other options are the braided rawhide rings (can even get vanilla scented) pressed rawhide, cow hooves… really anything should last a decent time for her now.

As far as baby gates, Luna jumped them too… but my breeder recently had this problem and invested in one of the gates that only has vertical bars, so they don’t have anything to grip onto as they jump. May look into one of those that even has a handy walk through door for your hubby.

Good luck! All your hard work now does pay off, and she already seems like a real sweety.

  12. Elizabeth says:

You let her have your fav flats?! wow, that is love! Also, that is QUITE the evil eye!
We had a lab puppy that comfortably cleared jumping over the baby gate… so put two on top of each other. It looked ridiculous, but it kept her where we needed her while we were out!

  13. The stink-eye… Bahahaha! Totally was, you’re right! And yes, puppies have a thing about licking windows. I don’t know why. I can’t imagine that they taste good. Lol Piper learned how to vault over the gates pretty early too. We purchased the taller white plastic gates that have a swing shut closer. Stopped her dead in her tracks. Best part? She can’t CHEW on it! Yay! 🙂

  14. She’s so cute!! I love puppies – I wish they could stay small too!

  15. Truan says:

    Aww, she’s adorable!

My moodle pup licks windows too, I guess it’s some weird dog thing? She also cries if you give her a treat if she’s full. Yep, she cries!

Great post, and great blog! 🙂
