As a kid, my mom would try every year to rally enthusiasm about yet ANOTHER trip to Williamsburg. Here’s how that went:

“Hey kids! I’ve been thinking about taking us all to Williams-”
“WHAT? Why?! We just went last year!” exclaimed Ethan.
“It’s a historic town, nothing changes!” I’d shout.
“I DON’T WANT TO GO!” insisted Seth.

She always won this argument. And we’d kick and moan the whole way down there, because we had so many other things to do as elementary school kids on summer vacation, like sit home and moan about how bored we were.

We were right- Williamsburg never changed. It was always the same beautiful town with the elegant historic corridor. And as I’ve grown, it’s remained a part of my childhood. “What?” I asked my husband when he told me he’d never been. “Oh you have to go. We’ll go together sometime.”

You win, Mom. Touché.

Our real motivation for going down to Williamsburg was for a family reunion. Kids are always the best parts of reunions. Kids that have never met, but find a way to play and become best friends in a matter of hours.

THis is my new cousin Zoe and her big brother Finn. Oh what’s that? She’s the cutest thing ever? I’d have to agree.

My brother, Ethan, and my niece.

This is Zoe and Myriel, being adorable. And then there’s Seth, trying to pretend that he doesn’t care about having his picture taken.

Touche, Abby! You caught the Fife and Drum Corps well. There are some darling picts of Zoe and Finn with their parents. And I loved the picture of Ethan and Isabella.

  5. Haha Yess!! We used to always take trips to Williamsburg too! We loved it though for (I think) exactly two reasons – Sakura and Water Country USA.
