When someone’s job revolves around working almost exclusively with a screen, HOW do you tell a more interesting visual story outside of just… cheesing at a MacBook Pro?

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present: Exhibit A.

I’ve been on a mission since my early days as a brand photographer to push beyond the “smiling at a laptop” photos (further proof found here). And there’s always been a little area of hesitation reserved especially for “but what if I’m hired to shoot a brand session for a graphic designer? What else will we shoot BESIDES photos with a laptop?”

THIS is what we shoot.

Because Wendy of WesWen Design is so much more than just her tools. She is boldness and color, she’s unapologetic and strategic. She’s an absolute force to be reckoned with, and reducing her to a laptop would rob her and the world of some of her magic.

I’ve known Wendy since the EARLY days of AGP (ask me about the time we collaborated on a Harry Potter-inspired styled shoot!), and this is a season of courage and fearlessness that I *love* watching unfold in her business!

For Wendy’s shoot, we focused on creating a combination of show-stopping portraits (with wardrobe by- who else?- Katherine Bignon), Wendy at work, and this idea of bold, caffeinated style. That was my favorite storyline to dream up! When dreaming up our shot list, I added coffee, a moka pot, cappuccino cups, and demitasse spoons, as well as physical tools that illustrated what she does on a screen as a graphic designer. Wendy faithfully ordered everything I suggested, even the custom stamp I thought would be an impossibility, and I’m so grateful she let me run with my vision.

Because this is seriously some of my favorite material I’ve ever created with a client.

Wendy, thank you. For all your trust, for being so talented and fun to photograph, for following all my rabbit trail ideas. I’m cheering for you, always, and watching your good vibes spread like wildfire is an absolute thrill.
