I wish you could have heard how Zach & Meghan’s siblings and parents spoke about them throughout their wedding weekend- how beloved these two are by their nieces and nephews, how much they prioritize time with loved ones, how they’re the ones to drop everything and come to the aid of those closest to them in times of need. They think of others first and exude such thoughtfulness and grace!
While Meghan was dressing in the bridal suite, Zach was in The Experience Room with the guys for a whiskey tasting (such a fun idea). Their first look in the Franklin Study was so joyful to behold, they were both just so happy and present in the moment! After portraits in the Study with that gorgeous backdrop of cherry blossom photographs, we headed off to Holy Rosary for their evening ceremony.
(I have to say, the most frenetic moment of the day for me was when the Secret Service motorcade arrived just a couple of minutes before the ceremony- having been a DC wedding photographer for more than a decade now, I feel like I’ve witnessed my fair share of exciting events around the city. But seeing the Vice President’s procession pull up and his detail stationed around the church, it was a totally new experience!)
We headed back to the hotel where, after cocktail hour, Z&M headed upstairs for a quick dress + dinner jacket change, and the reception was everything you’d want it to be- the sweetest first dance, heartfelt toasts from family and friends, and a packed dance floor! We snuck out for a few after-dark portraits on Pennsylvania Avenue with the Capitol in the background, and then Zach & Meghan headed right back in to tear up the dance floor (and at which time Zach performed the Backstreet Boys’ song Tell Me Why and it was the best thing EVER).
Zach & Meghan, seeing your families come together to celebrate the creation of your new family unit was a delight and privilege, and I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to capture it all! Sending you two the biggest air hugs!
