It’s Monday! And let me be the first to apologize for that travesty of a week I had last week when it came to blogging. There was something so intoxicating about being away for several days in the California sun that made it really hard to come back inside, sit at a desk and write a blog post. So here’s to hoping I don’t move to Santa Barbara because I would NEVER get any work done!

This week will be all about playing catch-up; e-mails, blogging and album orders. And my first e-session of the year! And our Q&A night on Friday- I am SO excited about that! Rebekah and I have been scheming and planning and it’s going to be such a great evening.

As always, lessons learned/things that have transpired over the past week:

• I’m in love with California light. What? We already talked about that last week? Oh, carry on, then.
• You all will be proud to know that I traveled on FOUR planes last week and not once did I speak in a British accent.
• The Four Seasons has the best selection of teas and hot chocolate of any hotel ever. EVER. Ghiradelli Double Chocolate hot cocoa? YES PLEASE. Did I take an extra one home with me? It’s very possible.
• I’m turning into my mother- I went to Jo-Ann’s yesterday with my Granny and emerged with two new pieces of fabric, and on our drive home from Roanoke? I worked on a bit of embroidery. I’ll probably be applying for membership to my local Quilt Guild later this week. (just kidding)
• I sewed my first piece of clothing on Saturday- a skirt! And by “I sewed,” I mean “my Granny told me where to stitch and I did it.” I think I learned enough to make another one of my own, so we’ll see how well this turns out. I’ll keep you guys posted, pending me NOT sewing my fingers together.

A sort of full Santa Barbara/UNITED 2013 post is coming tomorrow (I have to wait on my film scans to show you everything!), so here’s one more taste of the beauty to come!
