Oh hullo, thar, Monday morning! It’s nice to see you. I try to take it easy on Mondays after a wedding weekend but I don’t think that’ll happen today- I am WAY too excited to dive into the images from Saturday! David & Heather’s day is definitely going to be one of my all-time favorites and I can’t wait to share it with you guys on Thursday.

So how about that Super Bowl last night?? I feel kind of bad, but this was one of those years where I didn’t care much about the game (it feels so unAmerican to utter such words). Matt & I ended up hanging out at our house and my parents came over, and with my mom’s scattered thoughts due to Lyme treatments, her commentary throughout the game was enough to keep me entertained :). And then during the blackout, what did we do? We switched the channel to Downton Abbey, of course; a show I’ve never seen before, and after 15 minutes of viewing last night, I just don’t get what the fuss is about. Someone clue me in?

As usual, lessons learned/things that transpired over the past week:

  • Best commercial from the Super Bowl goes to Volkswagen! “Don’t worry me bruddah! Sticky bun come soon!”
  • I know y’all have probably already seen this video, but I’ve watched it four times and I cannot get over how incredibly inspiring it is. Who would have thought that a five-year-old in a suit could light a fire under my butt?
  • I have a secret burning desire to one day conduct an orchestra. Lately, my Pandora station of choice has been the Tchaikovsky channel and I find myself breaking the cycle of work to conduct with my pencil.
  • Heather, my bride from this past weekend, is from Ireland, so many of the guests in attendance had Irish accents. Good gracious, I could have listened to them talk ALL DAY.
  • You know the half time show/standards for female performers’ costumes is bad when your dad is so uncomfortable that he gets up and volunteers to take your dog (whom he’s allergic to) on a walk. And then Matt got up to follow him out.
  • I really need to start writing down the little quips and musings throughout the week that I plan to use on Mondays. Without fail, I’ll have all these funny little one-liners stockpiled in my head Tuesday-Sunday, and then Monday comes and I’m like “I can’t even remember what I had for dinner last night, much less what happened last week.”

A here’s a preview of all the gorgeous that is to come on Thursday!

Monday Mash-Up

February 4, 2013

  1. I highly enjoyed the game. I didn’t much care who won. My Mom has always rooted for the 49ers since she is a Cali girl, but Michael Oher and Tyrod Taylor play for Baltimore so I enjoyed that aspect!

About that halftime show. Why does Beyonce always insist on not wearing pants?!?!?! SO uncomfortable!

Also, that is one gorgeous image!!!!

  2. Stephen says:

And don’t forget you had your senior portraits taken in the rain!

  3. Rebekah Carter says:

Regarding Beyonce’s performance, I thought the all-female show was a cool idea. But if they were trying to support “female power” then why was the show so sexualized? I know, I know, that’s what “sells.” I hate to sound like an old fogie but I really do think it sends the wrong message that women’s “power” lies mostly in the sexual realm.

And I can’t wait to see your images from that wedding. The previews have been fabulous already!

  4. jenna says:

Abbey, you should give Downton Abbey another shot. Watch it from the first episode. 🙂 I felt kind of the same way at the beginning of the first episode, BUT after 30 minutes I was HOOKED! Over the last 2 weeks, I have had several DA marathon days to catch up. i seriously can’t get enough of it. It is so beautifully done and the CLOTHES are to die for…at least I think so. 🙂

  5. Jean says:

Beautiful bride. Gorgeous photo! Super Bowl…I didn’t care who won. Loved the commercials. The Dodge truck one about farmers was my favorite. Half time show…. Too much sex. I did like the kids from Sandy Hook singing America the Beautiful in the pre game show, but could have done without Jennifer Hudson’s screeching.

  6. Gorgeous photo! I can’t wait to see the rest! And I always forget what we ate or did two days ago (and even yesterday). I end up asking my husband and somehow he always remembers. This is why I write things down!!!

  7. Becky says:

    Wow she is so gorgeous!

  8. Rebekah Hoyt says:

Oh my gosh, I am LOVING all of your sneak peeks from this wedding! I can’t wait for Thursday! And yes, hands-down my favorite commercial was also the VW one – hilarious!!

  9. Dad says:

Yes when I prefer Lilly’s company to the Super Bowl halftime show it’s pretty bad!

  10. jae says:

didn’t get to watch the superbowl, but i heard that beyonce forgot her pants, and then turned off the lights after her performance in the hopes that people would forget she was half-naked. or something like that. …anyway, three cheers for irish accents!

  11. Alicia says:

Can’t wait to see the images from this one! All the sneaks look just gorgeous!

  12. Megan says:

I totally agree about Downton Abbey! I tried to watch the first episode twice and it puts me right to sleep! Maybe it’s not kind my kind of show. I’ve been loving Homeland instead!!

  13. Annamarie says:

Oh my!! She is GORGEOUS!! I can’t wait to see more of this wedding! LOVE!
