My out-of-office responder is on, I’ve yet to pack, and I’m running around like a mad person trying to finish all the little tasks that were supposed to be completed last Friday.

It’s official: we’re leaving for France today!

Would some say we’re crazy to leave the country during the middle of wedding and engagement session season? Possibly. But Matt & I desire to run a business that enables a life that we LOVE. And so when we found the perfect tickets on my favorite airline for France in the [almost] fall (see last week’s post), we couldn’t turn it down. It was meant to be!! If you’re in need of a dose of wanderlust, I’d love to have you follow along on Instagram stories- I can’t wait take you all along with us on our adventure!

So. Kevin & Steph were married this past weekend at one of the MOST gorgeous venues I’ve ever had the joy of photographing- Union Station is one of my favorite spots in DC, and shooting their wedding there was SUCH a privilege! You guys are going to love their blog post on Thursday. I’ll just be over here editing like crazy, trying to get their post pre-blogged before we leave tonight because the wifi in France is never reliable.

As always, lessons learned/events that transpired over the past week:

  • The music at Kevin & Steph’s wedding was a 90’s cover band, White Ford Bronco, and it was THE BEST. There wasn’t a single song from this millennium, and guests went nuts- Blink 182, Backstreet Boys, Ace of Base, and more. And now I’m listening to “Love me love me” by The Cardigans!
  • In case you ever need a recipe for losing your voice, here’s mine: get bronchitis, then teach three 1.5 hour- long webinars in one week. That’ll do the trick.
  • Oh, and recipe for sleeping like a rock: teach three webinars, shoot two engagement sessions and one wedding, and launch an online shop, all within one week. Add one glass of bubbly, and boom- you’re out like a light!
  • Fun fact: cramming doesn’t really work when it comes to foreign languages. I speak enough French to get by, but have also been listening to a French podcast to help bring back some of those four years of French classes that leaked out of my brain. Turns out, listening to 5-6 of those podcasts back-to-back just ends up overwhelming you instead of making you fluent. Who knew?
  • Sirius has a favorite ball! (I realize this isn’t exciting for anyone but us). Neither he or Lily have ever been the type to obsess over tennis balls or playing fetch, but when this random red squeaky ball turned up in our house, it’s slowly turned into his best friend. He even slept with it one night last week. It’s the only chew toy he hasn’t utterly decimated!

A quick preview from Jeremy & Kara’s engagement session, coming to the blog tomorrow!
