Happy Monday, friends! Last week was super, super busy for us, so I slept in today. Until 10. And it was glorious. I think it’s one of God’s greatest gifts to man. Truly- is there anything better than waking up with that warm, slightly sleepy-yet-totally-satisfied feeling after a good night of rest? I think not. And the only thing that makes it better is COFFEE upon wake-up!

I second shot for another DC film photographer on Saturday which, in and of itself was a joy. But then add to the mix the fact that this photographer’s couple is half French, and the guest list is comprised of 50% French speakers, and I was in heaven. And then add to THAT the fact that the groom later told the head photographer that they thought I was French at first because of how good my accent was? I tried not to die a little inside- “you have no idea what a compliment that is!!!”

As always, lessons learned/events that transpired over the past week:

  • I got to speak at Radford again! CRU invited me down as a guest speaker and I had such an incredible time sharing my story and how God can use anyone to do incredible things, despite their character flaws, upbringing, social circumstance.
  • And also, I got to speak from the same stage where I saw Taylor Swift perform my sophomore year of college. So that was pretty surreal.
  • We got our photos back from David Abel! OH MY GOSH they’re so freaking gorgeous- I’m already dithering between photos for prints throughout the house. Go see his blog post here of our portraits in Paris!
  • Sirius is a bit of a jerk sometimes. He LOVES running- and not just running, but running away. I don’t think it’s that he hates us, it just seems like a game to him- he bolts, and as soon as you go to chase after him, he gets this goofy “OH IT’S TIME FOR MY FAVORITE GAME, HOOMAN-CHASES-SIRIUS!” face and lollops away is that oversized way of his. Which is all fun and games (not really) until he runs out in front of a car, or runs past a group of kids and scares them half to death.
  • So then you spend 20 minutes looking for him, decide to stop back at home to drop your other dog off so that you can then go and continue the search, and there Sirius is. Waiting for you. Like “what took you so long, hoomans?”
  • See? Jerk.

Yesterday was a super fun day because not only did I get to see these two darlings again, but I got to work with some of favorite vendors on a yet-to-be-announced project we’re working on! (I hate the term secret project anymore, so if you guys have a better word for it, let me know; “yet-to-be-announced” is a bit too verbose to type out again and again).

*Update- we’re naming the project “Operation Unicorn,” because I loved this suggestion of taking after Once Upon A Time’s habit of naming secret procts “Operation [Insert an animal name that has nothing to do with the project itself].” So there you go!*

I can’t wait to fill you guys in on what we’re working on over here! Let’s just say this- anyone who enrolled in the full A Practical Wedding Workshop LIVE course is going to be REALLY happy about it :).

And one more, because how precious are they?!?!?! Thank you so much, Love Blooms, Gabby & Martha, Soliloquy Bridal, and Stone Tower Winery!!

The Monday Mashups are my favorite posts of your, I think. I just love your way of talking about life’s events! Speaking of which, thanks for making time for my event earlier in the day!

  3. Jean says:

Ditto to what your mom said, I love Monday Mashup !

  4. Dad says:

    I love it more!

  5. Whitney says:

Ugh. You are just perfect, and simultaneously the most inspiring and hilarious hooman. <3

  6. Dixie says:

Sometimes, like when you’re describing your dog with a Harry Potter name running away like he’s thought this through like a human right after saying you love getting to talk about Jesus at CRU events, I really wish that my husband and I weren’t married so that we had an excuse to spend a whole day with you (but not really because I love being married, you know?). Anyway, keep being awesome, and maybe we’ll catch you for an anniversary session one day 🙂

  7. […] I worked straight through last weekend by second shooting for a Kate on Saturday, and working on Operation Unicorn last Sunday. So Matt and I took last Monday afternoon OFF and visited Stone Tower Winery for a […]
