Classy, but never stuffy. Black tie, and so, SO much fun. Elegant and chic, never boring. Needless to say, I love them together. He’s the sharp Texas gentleman, she’s the all-American Yale graduate. She lights up when he pulls her close, and she’s the only one who can elicit that particular smile he saves just for her. They spur each other on to the next level of fun and adventure, and they bring everyone else into their joy with them! It’s a selfless and sweet kind of love. My favorite, favorite kind.
Their wedding day was, in short, absolute perfection. Portraits with family & friends at the park next to their home in Georgetown, a wedding ceremony at “the President’s church” off of Lafayette Square, and a reception at one of DC’s most iconic locations, the Mellon Auditorium. And somehow, even with 280 guests, it never felt anything but intimate. Maybe that was due to the attention to detail- having Engaging Affairs schedule things in such away that allowed them to mingle at their own cocktail hour, the fact that they SANG the first half of their first dance song to one another (to the surprise of everyone!), or the monitors they had at cocktail to allow everyone to watch the Kentucky Derby in real time.
Judd & Caroline, I cannot begin to tell you what an honor it was to photograph your wedding day. It was a joy from start to finish, and I am so grateful you allowed me in on such an important day to help celebrate by capturing you and your friends and family! I hope that Africa is as refreshing and rejuvenating as you need, and that you manage to stay unplugged from wine country to safari! SO much love to you both!
