This session was a LONG time coming! Lauren first got in touch after we met at Creative in January (because she’s the amazing wedding planner + floral designer behind So Lovely Weddings!), and I knew RIGHT away these two were going to be a joy. See, it’s really important to me that when it comes to my couples, I’m a good fit for both my brides and grooms (or, when it comes to anniversaries, both the husband and the wife). I’m well aware that there are a LOT of men in the world who don’t like having their photograph taken, so when there’s a comfortability there with both partners, it means I can really focus on making it an incredible, enjoyable experience for the husband, too!

And that’s why I knew I was going to love photographing Craig & Lauren- our first Skype meeting made me feel like I’d known the two of them for much longer than just a few minutes- and I loved Lauren’s enthusiasm and Craig’s easygoing nature! And I loved that Craig was excited about the session because he knew Lauren was looking forward to it- there was a selflessness there that you don’t see every day, and it made me all the more earnest for their session to arrive.

We’d originally planned to shoot in August, once their new home was done being built and they’d had a chance to move it! But then the date for the house was moved to September… then October, then November. But we finally made it happen! And I like to think that the wait made it even more worth it. After all, that navy blue dress wouldn’t necessarily have worked for a late summer session now, would it?

Craig & Lauren, it was such a delight to spend the afternoon with you two, Samson, and Paisley! Your new home is absolutely gorgeous, and I’m so grateful that I was able to document this sweet, sweet time in your lives. Thank you so much for inviting me with such warmth, and for the opportunity to capture your relationship as it is right here, right now! So much love to you both!
