As many of you know by now, and the rest of you are about to learn, I’m a huge Harry Potter fan (see my last post). So of course I was there at Fairfax Corner on Thursday evening to view the last and final installment in the Harry Potter series at midnight. I made sure to take my camera, and my fellow Hogwartians did not disappoint. There were so many creative outfits, identities and costumes that I could barely keep up! Here is my night in review…
I’ll begin with Hogwarts students- there were plenty of them! I guess that makes sense, though. It is the summer holliday.
These two made their own wands. Like went into the woods, found a stick, and whittled it down. I wonder how they got the unicorn hair or phoenix feather in it?
Uh… that sweatshirt? Is amazing. And look! It’s my friend Kaitlyn! She just got engaged- everybody say “CONGRATULATIONS KAITLYN!!”
I squealed when I saw these two – Draco Malfoy and Colin Creevey! I loved the camera.
This is the “Luna” section. She was one of the most popular characters in attendance- I counted seven or eight, all wearing Spectrospecs. So fun!
Faculty! Plus another Luna, and Hedwig! (the dude in white in the left image)
This next section is various Hogwarts memorabilia/accessories. Look! A snitch!
Hahahahahaha these guys were awesome!
This guy is on the University of Texas’ Quidditch team. SO hardcore. I was really jealous of his shirt/mad Quidditch skills.
And now, onto the bad guys. Lucius Malfoy and the Bloody Baron. (I was sure he was Sir Cadogan)
We were in theater seven. So awesome. Oh snap, a Dark Mark!
I was dressed as Winky, so whenever I saw another house elf, I’d shout “KIN!” I don’t think they all got it. But the girl in the bottom left was super fun! And we took a picture together! (bottom right)
While we were in line, the theater staff came around selling butterbeer. It was SO good, and it even had the cool fog effect!
This is the theater lobby at 10:30 pm. An hour and half before the movie started. I love Harry Potter fans.
I apologize for the grain in the next two images, our theater was really dark (naturally). The two images below are a wizard duel between a couple of rowdy Death Eaters and some Hogwarts students.
For those of you familiar with book 4, you’ll know that Winky was a seasoned Butterbeer drinker. So I printed out my own label, glued it onto a bottle, and carried it around all night.
That’s me and the hubs 🙂
And finally, my two favorite outfits! The left is another Luna, but she totally won me over with the lion hat! She was awesome! And the girl on the right had me confused at first. I asked her what she was supposed to be, and she said “the lost diadem of Ravenclaw.” It all made sense after that, and it was the most creative get-up I’d seen all night!
And I just realized that nowhere on the site is a link to my Facebook page, so I’ll be sure to fix that soon. In the mean time, go check it out here!
Happy Monday!

Abby This was a really fun post to read! Looks like you had a blast shooting the release of the last movie!
This post is seriously my favorite ever! We have lame fans in our area cause noone dressed up like this! Where is Snape in any of these? I for sure thought he’d be a popular pick for a costume! P.S. Book 4 is my favorite! 🙂
That just looked like too much fun!!
SO fun! Sadly, we didn’t make it this weekend, but it’s on the agenda this week hopefully!
