When I was a kid, my mom had this set of matching blue suitcases. Straight out of the 80’s, complete with her initials on the lock. She told me she got them as a graduation present, and I remember (as an 8-year-old) thinking “Luggage? What a boring gift! I’d want Beanie Babies or a Tomagotchi for graduation instead!” (#90skid)

I’m a little bit older now and have come to realize that, far from being boring, luggage is actually a BRILLIANT gift! Because seriously- is there anything more stressful when trying to pack for a trip than being worried that your suitcase is going to fall apart before arriving?

We’ve spent way more than I’d like to admit on cheap suitcases over the last few years- I tend to put mine through the wringer, with all the back and forth I do both internationally and domestically for work. And rather than researching or investing in a bag that’ll both LAST me several years AND look good in the process, I’d always just head to TJ Maxx and buy the first thing my eyes landed on.

Enter: Delsey! I first saw their bags pop up on my friend Natalie‘s feed, and as if falling in love with LUGGAGE wasn’t enough to convince me (because, really- is it normal to lust after a spinner bag?), once I learned they’re a Paris-based company? I was smitten. SMITTEN, I tell you.

I am SO excited to be one of their brand ambassadors! It’s seriously a match made in heaven- I travel so much that any sort of flimsy, cheap luggage just wasn’t going to cut it anymore. But I also have a brand & professional image to keep in mind, and wanted something that matched my classic, France-loving aesthetic (vs. a plain boring blag suitcase).

My brand new Châtelet Hard+ in Chocolate arrived JUST in time for Matt to join me in Paris this past summer, and I’m obsessed with it. I’ve never had a spinner bag before (just the kind with two wheels you have to drag behind you), and I cannot believe how much easier it is to navigate with this thing. Plus, it has locking back wheels to keep it from rolling away on its own!

I’m in love with the split sides- I always pack clothes in one side, and toiletries + shoes + misc (aka film). on the other! I opted for the carry-on size, since that tends to be the bag I wear out the most.

And then we also chose the Cruise Lite Hardside in Burgundy, because we needed a good, sturdy bag that could be checked! The best part about this one is the Overweight Indicator built into the handle that tells you whether your bag exceeds the 50lb limit (which I’m ALWAYS in danger of). Lemme tell you, that’s come in SUPER handy.

Also, kudos to Matt for being willing to model for this blog post- he’s such a trooper :).

I’m already plotting which piece we’ll buy next- perhaps a carry-on for Matt? Or another large back for our next long-term trip in France? Who knows! (But seriously- probably THIS one)

And guess what?! The folks at Delsey are incredibly generous and are extending 25% off with the code AbbyGrace25 now through November 11th.* So what are you waiting for?!

TREAT YOSELF.

  1. Oh my gosh, those blue doors in the first picture are so amazing.

Hi! I really enjoyed your review of these Delsey luggage items! I was just wondering how the Cruise Lite Hardside has held up over time, especially because the suitcase itself seems pretty flimsy/bendable. Were your items inside protected or has the suitcase cracked at all? Any thoughts?

    Thanks!
