This is supposedly the “off-season” for us wedding photographers- from December-Marchish, weddings tend to slow waaaaay down, giving us a chance to recharge our batteries, get ourselves organized, and a plethora of other tasks to while away the time. It’s also a loooong break from shooting, meaning I have a chance to step back and reevaluate my work and the direction in which it’s headed. I grew a lot last year- from my editing to my posing to my WHY behind what I do, I’m not the same photographer I was in February of 2012.
In February 2011, I went out with my mentors Mike & Terra and a gorgeous couple of friends of mine, Megan and Tyler, and we took a few hours to shoot for the sheer pleasure of satisfying our need to create. That session was a turning point for me- it was a chance to take pose and shoot in a relaxed, pressure free scenario, something I’d never had a chance to do. It was a week or two before my first ever solo wedding (vs. the previous year I spent second shooting), and having the chance to photograph beforehand was a HUGE asset! So around this time last year, I decided I wanted to do the same thing. I put out a call on Facebook and Twitter that I was looking for an already-married couple to come play model for me for a couple of hours. We ended up scheduling the session in July of that year, but holy cow. It was SO worth it. Remember Rob & Alicia? They were my guinea pig couple!
Now here we are in March 2013 and I find myself itching to shoot once again, a chance to photograph a session just for ME. So friends, this is where I need you! I’m looking for a couple who’d be willing to model for me within the next couple of months. This session really is for me, to work out the kinks of my posing process, to try out a couple of different techniques, to give the right side of my brain a real workout. As a thank-you for your time, I’ll be providing the couple with the final, high-resolution images from the shoot! Here are a few stipulations:
In order to submit your name for consideration, I just need you to shoot me an email at email@example.com with a photo of your wedding dress and a little bit about you and your hubs. I’m really looking for a couple who I connect with, so it’s not a contest at all of who has the best dress or who emails me first :). Former AGP couples are definitely allowed to throw their names in the hat, too!
I can’t wait to hear from you all- happy Thursday!
