This is ALWAYS one of the best posts of the year! And because my last wedding of the “season” was January 2nd, I’m posting this a little further into the new year than usual, but it’s my blog and I get to do what I want.
We have a LOT of fun on wedding days- how can you not? Everyone else is celebrating a beautiful union, and the excitement and joy is tangible! There are a LOT of laughs and hilarious/awkward moments throughout a wedding day between us photographers, and here are just a few of the ones we happened to catch on camera :).
Beginning with when I got a bug in my eye during Lyn & Corey’s portraits. Ever the professional.
I know it’s blurry but I like that it looks like I’m singing to Nick & Nicole.
Ethan in time out. JK- helping me get my settings right before Mike & Jill’s first look!
This is his sarcastic face.
We were walking back into the venue after portraits and I realized I hadn’t taken a photo of Ethan’s outfit (for this post!) yet that day. I turned around to grab one and Ethan thought I was trying to capture Kara + her bridesmaids, so he darted out of the way and this was the ensuing photograph.
For those of you who’ve asked, yep! Those are Star Wars tattoos on each of his forearms.
New goal for 2016: find a better face to make for when my second shooter is testing their light.
Oh Abby…. you should have believed Mom when she told you this wasn’t a good look for you…
Shooting at the White House nbd. Sup, Obama?
The wedding that Ben accompanied us to, to film all the BTS footage for A Practical Wedding Workshop Live!
I LOVE this one! My cousin Meg (you remember her wedding, right?) was a bridesmaid for Nick & Nicole’s wedding- we had so much fun that day!
“Oooh yeah, you’re right- those socks DO make your ankles look skinny.”
I just chose this one ’cause my hair looks good.
“Aw crap, Ethan’s taking a photo of them walking- quick! Turn around- perhaps it will make you invisible.”
I like to dance with my brides!
A big thanks to Lauren Empson for these BTS images from Lee & Danielle’s wedding!
And ending with this spectacular image. I’d asked Ethan to duck behind the chair to fan out the skirt of Kara’s gown so that it covered an unsightly doorknob, and couldn’t resist taking a photo of his protruding legs after getting the detail shot I needed. The best.

I LOVE everything about this post… it displays the humor, personality, and just all around “Abby-ness” that you bring to weddings. This is exactly what makes people feel comfortable, helps grooms’ (cough… Corey… cough) faces relax and smile, and puts everyone at such ease.
Side note – I so love all the dancing pictures from our wedding. SUCH a good time!
P.P.S. – Ethan rocks – love the outfits, faces, and his awesome 2nd shooting skills!
ERM your hair looks amazing in like ALL of these. Goals.
I second everything Lyn said! You brought the best out in us. And I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if you actually were signing to us 😉
This was such a great experience to get to share with you, Abby. Didn’t think I could have so much fun working, but it definitely was. And you had such amazing weddings and couples to work with over the past year, it really was a joy to get to be a part of that experience.
Also, I’m stealing like half these pictures for my profile.
I want a copy of that photo near the end of you and Ethan standing together and smiling! Is there anyway I could come up with a copy? You both look so happy in each other’s company, unlike days of old!
Love all these photos! The expressions are priceless!
Officially want all of Ethan’s pants.
Looks like you had a blast at all your weddings! I always love these kind of posts because they just scream fun!
