When your client references Warped Tour in your first meeting, you know you’re about to have a REAL good time.
Dr. Hill and her team are the go-to specialists in her area for eating disorder treatment and therapy, and the way she described herself and her practice in our first call had me hooked. She said that because so many of her patients are younger, the job of their visual brand is to connect with both parents and patients. To communicate professionalism AND “hey, you and I get each other” while speaking to two different generations at a time.
This is my favorite kind of problem to solve- when my clients know WHAT they need to communicate, but they’re challenged on how that’s supposed to look in photographs.
I pulled in Katherine Bignon for this one who came in absolutely clutch for on-set styling (check those flat lays, people- we had an assembly line laid out and it was PERFECT). We began our day at the practice’s main location and secured a second venue for some variety with head shots and team photos. We CRANKED through our shot list and managed to capture head shots, team photos, flat lays, and process imagery in a half day session. I’ll admit my shot list was ambitious (story of my life), but we got it done and I LOVE seeing these photos in action on the PsychED Recovery website!
Claire, Daniel & Elena, I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet you all! It was such a joy to hear more about your work and the way you honor your clients and their stories as they move toward healing. Thank you, thank you for trusting me with these!
Personal thoughts- this was one of two sessions I did this year that fell into the “medical industry” category (see this session I shot for a functional medicine doctor!), which was really unusual for me. I’ve loved the challenge of photographing for an industry outside my usual lane of “creatives and artisans.” It’s forced me to reckon with the fact that creativity comes in SO many different forms, and to push my imagination to the next level. I’ve loved devising new, visually-compelling ways to tell the story of brands to help them stand out from the masses!
