They met at Northwestern in the Spring of 2009, halfway across the country from home for Vicky. She remembers reading Tyler’s name on a pre-start-of-term email from, thinking there was no way someone could actually be named “Tyler Blue.” It had to be made up, she thought. But it wasn’t, and sure enough there he was on the first day of class sitting caddy corner from her own seat. Their first opportunity to spend one-on-one time together came in the form of an assignment to interview people at the mall, so they spent a few hours watching one another chase down strangers in the name of academia. It turns out Tyler quite liked those few hours with her, so he asked if she’d join him for dinner.

Fast forward to 2011- Tyler knew he wanted Vicky for forever and always, so he made plans to ask her the biggest question he’d ever posed. Knowing her favorite  art installation is The Bean, he made plans with a couple of their friends to nonchalantly get Vicky in position one afternoon. Little did he know that the day he picked also happened to be the date for a zombie convention, so when they arrived, ring in pocket and high hopes in hand, they were surprised to find themselves surrounded by legions of the undead. Tyler, not to be deterred by the damned, decided to proceed as planned, and when he dropped to one knee to ask Vicky to be his wife, her “yes!” echoed over the moans of the shuffling creatures surrounding them.

Tyler and Vicky, your spunk and sweet love have made me totally smitten with you two! Watching you interact through my viewfinder was such a joy, and I can’t tell you how blessed I feel to know you both. I can’t wait for September!!
