I don’t like Coca-Cola. But it’s not because I prefer another brand- I’ve just never liked colas. I DO, however, like Coca Cola in a glass bottle. And this, my friends, is proof that branding works. I don’t buy it for the taste, I buy it for the experience. Coca Cola has developed for themselves a brand that promisesd a true “American experience” while drinking from a container with a red and white label. So as I gulp down the dark, sweet liquid, I imagine myself on roller skates with carbonation bubbles everywhere, or in a malt shoppe wearing a poodle skirt while I drink my Coke with a striped straw.

I’m that person who wants a half-apron with a ruffled edge and a pocket on the left side with a wooden spoon sticking out of it. Cupcakes are cool not because they taste good, but because I feel classic making them. I like stainless steel measuring cups because they feel more classic than plastic one. When I was younger, I asked my mom for rubber gloves so that when I did the dishes, I felt like a 60’s housewife.

Perhaps this bleeds into my photography. Maybe that’s why I love simple, romantic images- because they’re classic. Because there is something so beautifully simple about two people in love. And leaving the photo as untouched as possible to let that love shine for itself, without the distraction of heavy edits, is how I best experience classic, beautiful love.

A Classic

Ahhh, we are kindred spirits 🙂 I wear an apron with ruffles, too, but mine is full-body because I am too messy for a half one! I use rubber gloves, too, but more out of necessity. Gah, I hate dishes!
I love simple, romantic, classic things. I guess that is one of the reasons we chose YOU to be our photographer!

    Abby…You are AWESOME!!

  3. I love glass Coke bottles as well. Anyways, the cans just aren’t the same (not adorable + high-fructose corn syrup vs. real sugar). =)

  4. I love these shots… so classic and FRESH. summery even. 🙂

  5. Bradi Wells says:

    Haha… love this. ;]

  6. […] that one time I posted about loving “classic” things, like Coca Cola in glass bottles? Our Christmas tree is kind of an embodiment of that […]

  7. Sarah B. says:

OMG – you are too stinking cute!
