It’s June 1st!! IT’S JUNE 1st!!!!!! I apologize for the excessive use of exclamation points.
You guys, today is a day to rejoice. It’s a day that’s been at least 2 1/2 years in the making (but really more like 4 or 5),Β a day that I wasn’t ever sure would actually arrive. Even last week, when I only had 8 days lefts, it was still hard to see the end, to really believe this was actually going to happen. But it’s happening NOW! My office is cleaned out, my replacement is already here, and I have an exit interview scheduled for 11:00 this morning. I even brought in cupcakes to share with the office in celebration.
I’m psyched out of my mind right now, and I can’t believe how blessed I am. I remember a distinct point in my senior year at Radford when I had a minor freak out about being confined to a cubicle for the rest of my life, about having to settle for work that didn’t fulfill me, about the corporate bore in general. But God is faithful! He knows my heart’s desire is to be out in the world, creating, forming relationships, photographing, and He delivered!
My soul is completely overwhelmed with outpourings of love and support from not only my family, friends & clients, but from my corporate coworkers as well. The amount of encouragement I’ve received over the past couple of weeks just floors me, and I know that as far as stints in the corporate world? This run was a pretty good one.
To thoseΒ struggling to balance a full-time “other” job + a photography career, it IS possible. But if you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that photography is what you’re supposed to do with your life? Run at it full-speed. Because the worst thing you can possibly do is to play it safe, thenΒ reflect on your life 20 years from now and wish you’d taken a chance. Nobody ever looks back on theirΒ legacy and says “I wish I’d spent more time working in a job I really don’t care about.” If you’re one of the lucky few who can identify your passion and how you can turn it into a supporting career? DO IT!!!!
The happiest of Fridays to you all, my friends. This is the absolute last blog post I’ll ever write from behind a desk that doesn’t belong to me :). You all should know (all you blog-readers of mine) that your comments, page views and encouragement have been a huge factor in me being able to make this leap today. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Abby, one of the things that speaks VOLUMES about who you are and how you live in Christ is that your coworkers are happy for you! Even if it wasn’t your dream job, you made a positive impact on them. The King is smiling!
Applying those same values to your photography business will set you apart from those who simply “point and shoot ”
Congratulations!!!!
