As a child, did you ever read that book “I Wear My Tutu Everywhere?” It was my favorite book mainly because… well, I did wear my tutu everywhere. And then there was that time in kindergarten where I wore my Halloween costume (a full ballerina get-up) on the wrong day and then locked myself in the bathroom until my mom came with a change of clothes, but I’ll save that story for one day when I need therapy.

Anyway- now that I’m older, I’ve switched from tutu to camera. I bring that sucker EVERYWHERE. To the grocery store, to my parents house, on walks with my niece, everywhere. And up until about a month and a half ago, I was either carrying it in my hand or gentling cradling it in my non-padded purse, Then I’d forget it was in my purse and I’d carelessly drop my bag on the floor. Yeah, THAT’LL make you sick to your stomach. It was about the time when my 50 1.2 stopped focusing correctly that Matt and I decided that investing in a Kelly Moore bag may just be a good idea.

Kelly Moore is a photographer who realized that many of today’s shooting bags left something to be desired. So what did she do? She designed an entire line of adorable, feminine-yet-functional handbags specifically for photographers. These bags look simply like an attractive purse from the outside (handy in case you’re Grade A paranoid like me), but have all the padding your precious camera needs to protect it from the bumps and knocks of a typical day out. I know a couple of photographers who use their Kelly Moores as shooting bags during weddings and portrait sessions (I’m still attached to my ShootSac!) but I really wanted mine to function as a protective case for my camera for every day sort of things, like a visit to my parents or a night out with the girls. I finally settled on the Hobo in Walnut and I still can’t get over just how absolutely perfect it is. Don’t tell Matt, but I don’t think this will be my last bag by Kelly…

I love all of the extra zoppered pockets- they’re perfect for lens caps and accessories like memories card and batteries.

The Hobo is one of the smaller bags, but it can comfortably fit a 5dmkii with a 50 1.2 attached, as well as a moderately-sized spare lens (like my 100 macro or 35) and you’ll still have extra space for keys, phone, chapstick and a wallet. Or if you wanted to carry it as a shooting bag, you could do the camera body with lens attached and two spare lenses. And?  It’s so comfortable on my shoulder! I toted it around the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with me for an entire day and never got tired of carrying it!

  1. Ohmygosh. I totally know what you mean! I get nervous when my point and shoot camera gets dropped! Did you get your lens fixed???? I need clarification for my own sanity! 🙂

  2. Katie says:

What a timely post!! I have been trying to decide between a shootsac and a Kelly Moore bag and I think I’m going for the Kelly Moore B Hobo in gray just because it’s more all purpose than the shootsac and I’m too poor for both!

  3. Hollie says:

This is right on time!! I want this very bag and you just sealed the deal for me. Ordering it today! Thanks for the post! 😀

  4. Natalie says:

I love my Kelly Moore Bag, but I really really really prefer my shootsac! I guess each photographer finds the perfect bag for them! 🙂 Fabulous post!

  5. Aww they added a longer pad?! I wish mine had that! Otherwise I love it…it’s perfect for carrying everything I need and no one knows a camera is in there 🙂

  6. Jean Hensley says:

Looks like a good thing! Love your blog!

  7. I agree! I brought my Kelly Moore Hobo to Austria and carried it ev-ery-where, everyday, for two weeks. It was the best!!

  8. Maria says:

    That’s a good looking bag!!

  9. I want a kelly moore bag for my personal camera lovin’ life, because it’s easily disguised and kinda dressy looking, but I LOVE my shoot sac for weddings/photography work. It’s like my holster and I love the strap across my chest, very secure.

  10. Kari Jeanne says:

I LOVE my Kelly Moore bag!!! I have the classic and it works great for taking on shoots. Now I want a smaller one to take everywhere with me – they are just so pretty!!

  11. Alli Cain says:

Random thought for you- I loved “I wear my tutu everywhere” too! And I couldn’t find my copy when I went home so I looked it up and it’s only $0.99 at Barnes and Nobles.

I also love that Kelly Moore bags are something I would definitely wear daily! Wish I had a real reason to get one!

  12. Patience says:

I got the Kelly Moore Mimi in Gray and absolutely love it! I really like the look of the Hobo though too. I guess my first Kelly Moore bag won’t be my last one either.

  13. you’re going to LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!

  14. Kacey says:

I just got this bag in lavender, to match my brand, and I absolutely love it. I’ll be buying one of the larger bags to store ALL my gear hopefully later this year 🙂
