A Marine and his sweetheart. An all-American couple. She loved his sleek, military haircut, he loved her bright smile. They’ve made it through several years of dating and a deployment in Iraq, and now it’s time to take life’s next step, this time down an aisle.

Spending the afternoon with Phil and Megan was a joy! Her grin-inspiring laugh and his tough-guy-but-not-really sense of humor kept me smiling throughout their entire session. Phil kept Megan warm on the chilly DC October day, and she managed to steal an entire month’s worth of kisses in two short hours (or so Phil tells me).

We have to wait 11 more months until their wedding, and I’m already impatient for it to be here. Phil and Megan, your love is warm, friendly and inviting. Thank you for letting me into your world for an afternoon.

The session began at the Iwo Jima Memorial in DC…

Let me explain these next two sets. We were walking away from the Iwo Jima memorial when Phil jokingly suggested we use the porta-johns as a sort of grunge/high-fashion prop, since that seems to be the sort of out-of-place fashion spread you seen in magazine.

Cue: laughter.

“…but seriously guys, we should do it.” So we did.

We hopped in the car and after a quick outfit change, ended up at Meridian Hill Park.
