Isn’t is so crazy how small of a world it is? When Elizabeth’s email first popped into my inbox, her name seemed really familiar- “I think there was an Elizabeth Cole on my track team in high school…” Sure enough, it was her! My dad was one of her cross country coaches as well! Elizabeth, or “E-beth” as I remember everyone calling her at Madison, was just as sweet as I remembered her to be. So I knew that Dave was going to be equally wonderful!

And after dinner with the two of them in Boston the night before their engagement session, I absolutely understood how they came to be together- they’re best friends. Not just two people who love each other- two best friends who fell in love. They’re perfect together. And so it made sense that for their wedding day, we would all head back to the place where it began for them- the campus of Virginia Tech!

It was the perfect day! The weather was gorgeous, the Hahn Horticulture Gardens were in bloom, and everyone was just so darn excited to get together to celebrate these two. I don’t think I met an ounce of anxiety from anyone the whole day through.

Dave & Elizabeth, it was an absolute privilege to be there as you two went throughout the day- from your sweet first look to portraits on campus, from the Hokie Bird making an appearance to your sparkler exit, it was as lovely as could be. Thank you for being a photographer’s dream! I hope Sonoma was restful and refreshing, and that Seattle is off to a GREAT start! xoxo
