Oh Leather Craftsmen, how I love thee. Your rich cover treatments and thick pages are pleasant to the touch. Your true-to-life prints and lifelike colors are a joy to my eyes. It’s all I can do not to tackle the UPS man as he saunters to my door.

I started using LC as soon as I began ordering albums- I’d heard only the best of things from other folks in the industry and I wanted to give them a go, and now I have six sample album on my shelf because of how much I love LC. Last year I was having a really hard time with the actual design aspect of everything- getting everything to line up perfectly was driving me BONKERS. So I invested in Templates 4 Photographers and now the process is SO much more enjoyable!!

This particular album is a 10×10 of the 3500 series with Designer Mahogany as the cover. I opted for folded (instead of split) gutters so that I can comfortably design across the page.

One question I’ll occasionally receive is “why leave so much white space?” And the answer is that because leaving white space allows the viewer to focus more on the images in front of them. For reception and detail shots, it’s more practical to pack several images into one spread, but when I have an incredible image that I think NEEDS the freedom to shine without the clutter of other images vying for the viewers attention, I leave more white space. It’s more editorial, it’s clean, and it’s classic. These two portraits were my favorites from Gary & Clarisse’s wedding day, and I wanted to give viewers a chance to really TAKE IN the images without feeling pulled to also look at 3-5 other images on the page.

Oh, T4P. If it weren’t for you, it would have taken me an hour to create this ONE page.

I’ve really come to LOVE designing albums- I get to relive weddings all over again! It just makes me sad to put them in the mail to send off to their owners. This is probably why I have so many sample albums.
