An email popped up in my inbox a couple of months ago. The body of the email said, “I don’t know if you remember me, but we were in the same 4th grade class. We were partners for the Invention Convention?”

Oh Mian, how could I not remember you? Your radiant smile, your teeny little feet, and your adorable accent? Well, apparently Zhen noticed you, too, because now you’re making plans for a wedding.

They first met in class at George Mason University. Five years later, he surprised Mian with a gorgeous, sparkly ring whilst vacationing in Williamsburg. I’ll admit that I’m selfishly disappointed that they’ll be tying the knot in China with their families by their sides- their e-session was so amazing that I’m dying to photograph them again!

Zhen and Mian, you were an utter and complete joy to spend the afternoon with. I even loved getting lost on the way to the Harbor with you. Best of luck planning your wedding!

The afternoon began at the National Harbor Gaylord Hotel

E-sessions usually start in such a way that the first 10-15 minutes are a bit awkward, what with some couples not being immediately comfortable in front of a camera. These shots? All taken within the first TWO minutes. Work it, Zhen.

I can’t believe how much versatility the Gaylord Hotel offered. I love this wall!

I loev Mian’s outfit. Also, I think it was around this point that we were asked to leave… for a second time. Photogs- the Gaylord Hotel doesn’t like us.

And THIS is why you always keep your camera up and ready. I told them to walk slowly away from me and Mian pulled one of these. AWESOME.
